MMG’s Kinsevere is a world-class copper mine located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo that produced over 80,000 tonnes of copper cathode in 2016, while continuing to drive efficiencies and produce well above plant nameplate. One of our key goals at Kinsevere is to identify and foster the talents of national staff and develop them to ultimately move into our expatriate roles. The Group Commercial team is now seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our leadership team in Kinsevere on either a FIFO or residential basis).
Reporting to the Kinsevere General Manager, you will be instrumental in providing managerial colleagues with the highest level of commercial expertise in the form of meaningful costing, forecasts, budgets and life of asset plans. Your key measures of success will be increasing project returns, managing risk, realising commercial value and developing effective partnerships with local management teams and Group functions. You will also play a critical role in developing relationships with government stakeholders and interpreting in-country legislation in a way that achieves mutually beneficial outcomes.
Our Kinsevere leadership team prides themselves on an open and collaborative culture. With this position forming part of our global Commercial Leadership Network, you will be able to draw on the knowledge and support of your peers at other MMG sites as well as our Group Finance team in Australia. In turn, you’ll work to develop the capabilities of both Congolese and expatriate employees who directly and indirectly report to your position.
This is a dynamic and technically challenging role suited to senior commercial professionals with a significant amount of experience in the operation mining sector (essential), particularly within a developing country context. Degree qualified in Finance or related discipline, you will be familiar with local accounting and reporting requirements (OHADA) and IFRS standards and will have had experience with the Finance module of an ERP system such as SAP or Pronto. Strong English AND French language skills are essential.
