MMG’s new mine Dugald River, is a world-class zinc-lead-silver deposit located in north-west Queensland that has recently moved into commercial production and continues to ramp up to full production rates in excess of 1.7Mtpa through sub-level open stoping and Avoca mining methods. MMG is currently seeking a well-rounded Mine Manager to lead the Dugald River Mining Department to develop a high performance culture and ensure the mining team and mining contractor meet targets through safe, efficient, and well planned mining activities.
Reporting to the Dugald River General Manager and as a key member of the site leadership team, this role is responsible for focusing on delivering value in the medium to long-term of the operation whilst maintaining high standards of delivery in the short term. This role will see you maintain and foster relationships and manage contractor performance to deliver compliance with statuary regulations, standards and quality. You will develop and implement a mining plan, managing progress in respect of quality, time and costs. Importantly, you will draw on your expertise in both project management and commercial negotiation to create a high performance culture that ensures both current and future contractors meet targets through efficient, well planned and safe mining activities.
As a successful candidate, you will have good communication and effective management skills. Most importantly you will have strong experience within a similar role or ready for the next step and have operational exposure within a mining environment. Important to the role will be your safety leadership, demonstrated strong experience with all aspects of mine design, scheduling with particular relevance to underground metalliferous mining and contract management skills. Also essential to the role will be your S1, S2, S3 competency, a degree in Mining Engineering and Queensland First Class managers Certificate of Competency for underground metalliferous mines. Demonstrated experience in Business Improvement application is desirable. As an accomplished candidate, you will have the potential to move into operation or group manager mining roles within the business and/or General Manager roles in our organisation.
To be considered for this role you will have strong proven experience in large scale mechanised underground mining operations including significant experience at managerial and department or site leadership level. Important to the role will your competency is contract management, business improvement and project management understanding, cost control and budgeting. You will be degree qualified and hold First class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency for Queensland. Prior experience within ‘start-up’ and commissioning of mining operations is highly desirable. To further your success to the role, you will have excellent communication and influencing skills. You will be a natural leader with strong desire and drive to lead a successful team.
Role is available from a number of locations including, residential from Cloncurry, DIDO from Mount Isa and FIFO from Townsville or Brisbane. The role has single-point accountability and as such is offered on a 9/5, 5/2, 4/3 basis to ensure high continuity of leadership. An attractive remuneration is on offer for the role including a competitive base salary and annual bonus scheme.
