Job no: 497784
Work type: Permanent Full Time
Location: Melbourne Group Office
MMG Limited is a global base metals company that has world-class upstream assets, a development pipeline, and a comprehensive exploration program. Like you, MMG has ambition. As a company, we’re committed to striving for best practice in safety, environmental protection, production standards and overall operational excellence. We want you to feel the same way.
Our Regional Development Team (Africa, Australia and Asia-AAA), based at our corporate office in Southbank is a key business unit with a mission to create significant value to MMG. The team works under a dual-platform; focused on optimising life-of-assets to extract maximum long-term value for all operations, as well as providing specific technical expertise across the company to key business areas and departments.
Reporting to the Principal Mining Engineer, the role of Senior Hydrogeologist will provide technical guidance, review and support for all hydrogeological modelling, infrastructure development, management and studies for MMG in the AAA Regional area. Your key objectives will be to support all AAA sites’ optimisation activities to contribute to the achievement of their business objectives as well as to provide due diligence expertise in support of project studies, independent reviews and Mergers & Acquisition valuations. As such, you’ll demonstrate expertise in hydrogeological modelling including evaluation of hydraulic conductivities, aquifer properties, groundwater gradients, pump tests and the development and management of dewatering strategies. Knowledge of tailings management processes would be advantageous.
To be considered for this role it is essential you hold a tertiary qualification in Hydrogeology and demonstrate considerable experience within base metals mining. A strong relationship builder, you place a great deal of value on the importance of establishing strong communication channels with your stakeholders and are able to use your deep functional expertise to engage, communicate and influence effectively across both site and corporate environments. Membership with AusIMM or comparable body will be highly regarded.
While this role is based in Melbourne, naturally, your responsibilities will require you to spend time at MMG sites globally. As such, an ability to travel on a reasonably regular basis is essential.
Seize this opportunity by submitting your CV online in MS Word format before the application closing date of 15th December 2018. Recruitment agencies please note, MMG will not be accepting third party representations in this instance.
