The role of the Manager Resource Development is charge of developing the exploration program at Las Bambas to deliver the ongoing support to mine operations as well as develop exploration potential.
The responsibilities included are:
Leadership, strategy development, project management, planning, organisation and execution of Las Bambas exploration programmes.
Develop exploration model for skarn and porphyry-style deposits and apply this to mine tenements to identify targets
Develop strong working relationships with MTS, Permitting, Supply, Community/Stakeholder Relations teams to maximize success of the exploration effort.
Building a high quality exploration team with the emphasis on training and development of National staff.
Ensuring both legal and internal company compliance in accounting, tax, employment, health, safety, environment and community and government relations and all other aspects of the company’s exploration effort at Las Bambas.
Development and maintenance of a digital data base for all exploration data and GIS databases.
Ensure all subordinates and contractors under your responsibility maintain excellent technical standards and comply with all Company policies and procedures.
Employ innovative exploration approaches to improve discovery success rates relying on the broader MMG Exploration group, consultants and external researchers.
Prepare, manage and update exploration budget. Programs run on budget, adhering to MMG SHEC principles.
Evaluate contractor proposals, organize contracts, complete procurement process and implement procurement documents.
Monitor competitor activity in the Andahuaylas belt.
Ensure that all regulatory procedures and reporting are completed.
Ensure that all exploration tenements are maintained in good standing.
¿What do you need to apply?
University degree in Geology (minimum BSc)
- Professional Geoscientist designation (optional)
- Minimum of 15 years diversified experience in mineral exploration, preferably for copper in South America
- Professional geologist with broad exploration experience for a variety of deposit types in different geological terranes
- Possess senior project management experience.
- Experience in planning and managing exploration programs from grassroots generative programs through to resource definition drilling.
- Experience with porphyry copper and related deposit types; experience with other commodity/deposit types considered favourable
- Experience negotiating and completing joint venture agreements and working in remote environments.
Knowledge of planning and budget management, project management from initial exploration to feasibility, safety and environment management.
Knowledge of porphyry copper and skarn deposits.
Knowledge of various exploration methods, especially geophysical and geochemical methods for porphyry copper and skarn deposits.
Reporting, permitting and tenure regulations for Peru.
- Proficiency of English and Spanish languages (oral and written).
