MMG’s new mining operation, Dugald River, is a world-class zinc-lead-silver deposit located in north-west Queensland. We currently have a fantastic career opportunity available for experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering/Planning & Reliability team at Dugald River Mine.
Reporting to the Engineering/Reliability and planning Superintendent, in this role you will be responsible for the identification and management of asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations including underground fixed assets in addition, the role is to develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures as part as continuous improvement programs. You will achieve operational consistency on all our fixed infrastructure and underground operations assets covering the three main areas loss elimination, risk management and life cycle asset management.
This role will include general analysis of equipment reliability, investigation of events and variances and project work with a strong emphasis on safety, equipment reliability and maintenance quality. Focus will also be given to developing our Reliability Engineering systems and building capacity at Dugald River Mine.
To be successful for this role you will have Bachelor of Engineer in Electrical, Mechatronics or equivalent. You will possess a strong knowledge within project management, root cause analysis, failure modes and cause/effect analysis. Important to the role will be your proven level of operational maintenance and reliability engineering, a high level of problem-solving skills, Mechanical/Electrical and fault-finding abilities with good communication skills.
You will also be accountable for the below;
Accountable for administration of and use of site standards, site specifications, and relevant Australia and international standards across site (both electrical and mech)
Accountable for administration and use of site electrical safety systems; Electrical Safety management plan, Hazardous area, Overhead lines and the sub systems referenced in these
Primary PTCEW and the requirements of that role
Accountable for maintaining statutory compliance High Voltage equipment maintenance, Earth Leakage, electrical documentation etc
Accountable for maintaining a system to ensure electrical settings are documented and maintained.
Identify and determine Capital requirements for reliability/improvement projects (EOL replacements, upgrades, improvements). Feed into capital system
Identify, assign, track and execute multidisciplinary safety, production, cost saving, man hour reduction improvements for self and remainder of R&I Team
Ensure site compliance to 5 Why and RCA process
Execute 5 Why/RCA as deemed appropriated for a senior to manage (>$X and/or >X hours down time)
Regular meeting for improvement project, safety, PTCEW etc
Overall ownership of maintenance strategies (shared with senior mech). Identify and make improvements
Support engineering and planning superintendent
Further to responsibilities will include the below;
Support the senior in the role and responsibilities
Use the site electrical safety systems to ensure site compliance.
Multidisciplinary Reliability functions
5 Why and RCA
OnePM and strategy (multi-disciplinary) improvements and additions. Includes identification
Identify and execute multidisciplinary safety, production, cost saving, man hour reduction improvements. Feed improvement projects into senior and improvement project
Support the capital process for assigned capital
Support maintenance team (mechanical, electrical, and Reliability Technicians)
Previous industry experience within Underground mining and exposure to the asset management of fixed plant Concentrator will be highly regarded. Experience in the use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (preferably SAP) will be essential. Sound understanding of all Australian standards including AS 3000 and Queensland Mining and quarrying Act.
This role will be based on an 8/6 roster. MMG is supportive of our local communities and region. This role is available on a drive in drive out basis (DIDO) from the Cloncurry or Mount Isa Districts. Relocation support will be available for successful candidates who reside outside of the local region who wish to relocate to the Cloncurry or Mount Isa districts. FIFO from Townsville is also available.
