MMG is offering summer vacation employment to undergraduate students who are currently in their penultimate year. The MMG Vacation Employment Program is an opportunity to gain practical experience and obtain an inside view of possible career options.  

The MMG Vacation Employment Program runs for approximately 10 weeks over the Australian university summer vacation period commencing on 3 December 2020 and finishing on 13 February 2021 (including the Christmas and New Year public holidays).

Our vacation program is available at our Dugald River mine located in North-West Queensland on 8/6 FIFO roster from Townsville or our Rosebery mine in Tasmania on an 8/6 or 5/2 residential roster with housing assistance provided to selected candidates.

MMG appreciates that vacation employment has many benefits for both you and MMG. It gives you an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills learned throughout your studies and provide you with "hands-on" or "real-world" experience. For MMG, it provides us access to talented prospective graduate recruits, as well as an infusion of new and fresh ideas and up-to-date knowledge and skills.

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and self-motivated vacation students within our major disciplines:

  • Dugald River Mine , Queensland
    • Mine Engineering Geotechnical Engineering
    • Surveying
    • Geology (Project & Mine)
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Metallurgy
    • Laboratory Chemist
  • Rosebery Mine, Tasmania
    • Geology (Mining)
    • Mine Planning Engineering
    • Geotechnical Engineering
    • Maintenance & Reliability Engineering
    • Surveying
    • Nursing
    • Metallurgy

If you are interested in gaining practical on-site experience in any of these disciplines and will be completing your tertiary qualification at the conclusion of 2020, please ensure you list the discipline you are interested in when applying online.

The closing date for applications is 21st September 2020, and short listing for the above roles will commence shortly after.
