Occupational Site Nurse - Rosebery Mine

We currently have a great career opportunity available for an experienced Occupational Health Nurse/Co-ordinator to join our Safety & Health team at Rosebery in Tasmania, a polymetallic underground mine, in operation since 1936, which has current potential to extend life beyond 2030. Reporting to the Superintendent, SHEC, the role responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring MMG Rosebery meets its legal and statutory obligations in relation to Occupational Health & Hygiene.
  • Coordination of the early intervention injury and illness management process, return to work and rehabilitation programs
  • Liaising with permanent contractor HSE and management representatives to ensure appropriate injury management intervention
  • Managing the development, coordination & implementation of onsite health promotion and wellbeing programs.
  • Management and implementation of alcohol and other drugs, health assessments, health surveillance, fatigue management and healthy lifestyle programs;
  • Coordinating and performing lead in blood health surveillance testing as per MMG Policy and statutory guidelines;
  • Coordinating occupational hygiene monitoring for identified high risk SEG’s for noise, dust, metals, silica & Diesel Particulate Matter in the working environment.
  • Health and medical coaching to the Emergency Services Officers and the Emergency Response Team
  • Maintenance of medical service equipment and the medical facilities to a high standard
  • Maintaining stores and administering drugs in compliance with the statutory requirements
  • Professional communication with external Medical Practitioners
  • Professional, calm approach to the management of and response to emergency medical incidents

To be considered, you will have extensive experience in a similar role, preferably within a remote mining operation. You will be a self-starter, willing to develop and continually improve health and hygiene systems, proactively engaging internal and external stakeholders, and a great attention to detail with excellent communication skills. It's essential you hold Registered Nurse qualifications with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or be an experienced Enrolled Nurse with significant Phlebotomy/Venepuncture experience. Additionally, a qualification in Occupational Hygiene would be favourable.

This is a genuine career opportunity for a highly motivated health professional, who is looking to expand their capabilities within a supportive team environment.  This role is a 5/2:4/3 residential roster with an on-call component, giving you the opportunity to become a member of the Rosebery community.  Naturally, MMG will support you with relocation to the area and provide generous housing assistance.
