Safety Advisor – Maintenance and Operations

Rosebery mine has had continuous production since 1936 that will extend beyond 2030. Rosebery operation is approximately 300 kilometres north-west of Hobart and 125 kilometres south of Burnie and has been operating continually for over 80 years. The operation prides itself on being a member of the local community.

Annual production at Rosebery is expected to be around 55,000 – 65,000 tonnes of zinc in zinc concentrate. The operation continues to deliver excellent operational performance that saw 2018 deliver record levels for mining, milling, zinc equivalent production and payable metal in product sold. Reporting to the Superintendent Safety, Health & Training, the Safety Advisor assist in the provision of safety leadership in the field, promoting site compliance with corporate and site safety standards, implement safety directives that improve safety performance, and ensure site safety policies and procedures are aligned with Commonwealth and State regulations and legislation. The position will be responsible for the coordination of the site incident and event management systems, providing ongoing support and training

To be successful in the position we ideally require the below:

  • A minimum 3 years’ experience in a Maintenance and Operations similar role (metalliferous mining experience highly regarded)
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, co-ordination and execution of environmental and/ or hygiene monitoring programs
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of monitoring information (including validation and reporting)
  • Exposure to information management software, including: SAP, ESDAT/ Sample Manager, ArcGIS, ESRI
  • Experience in the maintenance and continuous improvement of environmental and/ or safety management systems
  • Exposure to the scoping and execution of SSHE related projects
  • Suitable degree qualification and complimentary certificates in OHS or equivalent.
  • Trainer and Assessor Cert IV - mandatory
  • WHS Cert IV minimum - mandatory
  • A full manual drivers licence

This is a genuine career opportunity for a highly motivated Environment and Safety professional who is looking to expand their capabilities within a supportive team environment.  This is a permanent position and we will also consider FIFO working on a 8/6 roster.

You will be offered a remuneration package commensurate with your experience and the current market.  MMG will support you with relocation to the point of hire and provide housing assistance within the Rosebery township.
