Rosebery is approximately 300 kilometres north-west of Hobart and 125 kilometres south of Burnie. Rosebery is 100% owned by MMG Limited and has been operating continually for over 80 years, with operations starting in 1936. The operation employs around 430 employees and contractors on a local residential basis.

Superintendent – Tailings & Water Projects
Reporting to the Manager Surface Operations, this role will be responsible for effectively planning and managing significant site-based water and tailings projects with the objectives of safety, environmental compliance, cost effectiveness, and timely completion.
Provide Rosebery mines with functional expertise in study management of tailings storage facilities (TSF) and water dams design and operational review to:
Direct all TSF and surface water studies and projects from concept through to implementation readiness.
Provide technical support and review throughout implementation and operation.
Develop and implement systems that measure and manage TSF capacities and filling rates.
Develop strategies for future capacity requirements in line with the MMG LoA (Life of Asset) process.
Drive the development of projects relating to existing tailings storage facilities
Work with key stakeholders to develop strategies to improve and optimise site water usage and treatment activities, including maintenance of the site water balance model.
Accountable for all contractor engagement and management in relation to agreed TSF project development.
Fulfil requirements of the control owner for risk “TSF capacity Restriction”.
Be the main point of contact with any project partners, consultants, contractors.
Progress feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, impact assessments and project business cases.
Compile and maintain project documentation.
Develop cost and schedule estimates, update cost and schedule forecasts regularly explaining any variance and manage actuals to budget.
Tertiary qualification in a mechanical or civil engineering, and/or relevant TSF technical qualifications.
Manual driver’s license for light vehicles
Project Management Qualification (AIPM certification) - Desirable
First aid certificate – Desirable
To be successful in the position we ideally require;
Safety Leadership and good knowledge of safety and environmental practices and regulations.
Experience and a sound understanding of current civil engineering technologies, including design, modelling and construction.
Experience in TSF and / or mining related water construction projects highly desirable
Proven experience in dams and geotechnical design and the delivery of projects, from small to major complex projects.
Understanding and application of ANCOLD guidelines.
Excellent people skills and strong leadership capabilities to enable successful management of varied stakeholders and demonstrated experience in management of teams as well as contractors to deliver studies on time and on budget.
Significant experience in project evaluation and proven experience in developing methodologies and providing technical input to proposals.
Excellent project management skills including project planning and development of precise scope, budgets and schedules & the ability to manage conflicting priorities
Capital budget planning, budgeting and cost reporting.
Change management and continuous improvement.
