Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia and is 100% owned by MMG Limited.
With continuous production since 1936 Rosebery mine has current potential to extend life beyond 2028. This underground mine has continually attracted and produced world class professionals. With a strong community focus and core values including safety and integrity, we are proud of our role in community development and our economic contribution to the local Tasmanian industry.
The operation continues to deliver excellent operational performance and employs over 500 employees and contractors who reside in the local region.
With the new investment plans to extend the extraordinary 85-year contribution of the Rosebery mine for the benefit of a new generation of Tasmanians, we have an exciting leadership opportunity in geology functions for a Geology Superintendent
This is a fantastic opportunity to manage and lead all aspects of geology at the Rosebery mine and contribute to the extension of the mine life by implementing best practice systems, procedures and operational support process as an expert in geology. In addition to this, you will be leading a high performing geology team through strong leadership and mentoring.
This is a residential role on a 5/2, 4/3 roster basis.
Competencies, qualifications and skills:
An unwavering commitment to workplace safety and a demonstrated expertise in establishing cultures and systems that embed safety awareness.
A tertiary qualification in Geology.
Strong demonstrated practical geology experience in an exploration or mining role and past achievements in complex dynamic underground mining.
Experience in structural geology or geochemistry of VHMS base metal deposits, with sound mapping and interpretation skills, with the ability to identify and focus on important aspects of ore deposit geology would be highly regarded.
Competent ability to manage daily drilling activities and daily supervision of various contractor relationships.
Good practical understanding of Underground Mining methods.
A driver’s license will be essential
Key responsibilities will include:
Managing all activities, methods and outputs of geology personnel and functions to ensure delivery of mine resource extension, drilling programs and associated production services to Australian Operations.
Build and maintain working relationships with other technical services functions and mine operations to ensure consistency, alignment and continuous improvement.
Own the delivery of Geological projects according to a schedule and assigned budgets.
Ensure grade control models are updated to minimise grade recovery variance per orebody, stope/bench as well as to production forecasts (monthly/quarterly).
Providing inputs to the integrated planning function to ensure Australian Operations understands the confidence/risk associated with grade and metal recovery in line with site physical forecasts and budget plans.
Providing geological data to Metallurgy team to assist in plant and reagent optimisation to maximise metal recovery and throughput at Australian Operation
Managing Geological data collection through core, face, backs and wall mapping to develop structural models to assist mine operations in optimising designs and reducing fall of ground risks.
