Lead - Sustainability and Social Performance

We are looking for a Lead - Sustainability and Social Performance to cover 12 months (fixed term) maternity leave. Your primary role will be to drive group performance and reporting requirements across Social Performance, Human Rights and Sustainable Development.

Some of your Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and represent social performance and human rights at a corporate level to ensure compliance with international best practice and standards, including ICMM Mining Principles, International Finance Corporation (IFC)’s Performance Standards, Voluntary Principles Initiative (VPI) and other frameworks.
  • Develop and support regions to implement, and report on, the sustainable development and social performance requirements of the businesses policies, standards, frameworks and processes and the ICMM Performance Expectations.
  • Manage the delivery of sustainability-related reporting, including the annual Sustainability Report, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, VPI Annual Report, VPI Presentation and the Modern Slavery Statement, in line with reporting metrics and material issues.
  • Advise senior management and other internal functional leads of social/sustainability issues and/or risks to MMG brand, reputation and performance and assist in their effective management.
  • Support with the strategy and management of ESG shareholders, as well as communication and stakeholder support for investor-related ESG enquiries and external reporting platforms.
  • Collaborate with functional teams in delivering the company’s social performance reporting suite including Sustainability Report, VPI Report, Modern Slavery Report, Tax Transparency etc.   

Your skills, knowledge, and experience will ideally include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social science, community relations, sustainability or a related discipline.
  • Stakeholder management and influencing skills across diverse audiences and issues related to business community.
  • Sustainability Communications and Reporting, Stakeholder Relations and knowledge of global civil society programs.
  • Sustainability Reporting, sustainable development or social issues management experience, including experience in cross cultural contexts.
  • Applicable legislative requirements, global industry practice and emerging industry trends in sustainability, ideally within the mining sector.
