Manager - Supply Chain Africa

Location: Kinsevere Mine

To be successful in this role you must demonstrate system practices and processes improvements, keep abreast of any changes to local regulations and adapt accordingly, and show effective development of your team.

Having worked in a comparable developing country environment, you’ll bring a wealth of experience in implementing best practice purchasing, supply and logistics initiatives.  Fluency in French and/or English is highly desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote a safe, innovative culture aligned to MMG values and vision.
  • Lead and develop the African supply chain team and build business capability.
  • Act as a point of engagement and functional steward of Supply Chain in Africa, including planning and prioritisation of Supply Chain requirements to meet Africa operation’s needs.
  • To drive and manage efficient and reliable supply chain solutions within the region.
  • To continue the development of local businesses for provision of goods and services through a sustainable development program as part of the local supply management plan for region in collaboration with the local Community Relations team.
  • To meet the targets established within business plans and budgets, looking for progressive and sustainable progress, across areas of external spend and Inventory Management.
  • Facilitate timely completion of sourcing and contracting in conjunction with Global Sourcing and Contracting team.
  • Responsible for the Contract Management process in region to drive value from contract management and improvement opportunities
  • Build and maintain appropriate relationships with key strategic external suppliers and agencies of the Democratic Republic of Congo and other African regions

REQUIRED CAPABILITIES

Skills

  • High Level Supply Chain, Procurement or equivalent skills in analysis and optimisation
  • High level of ability to collaborate both with functional peers and stakeholders within Africa
  • High level of ability to plan and prioritise work in a complex organisational environment
  • High level of influencing skills with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Competent in the use of SAP or similar ERP system with strong understanding of Procure to Pay and warehouse operations processes
  • Skilled in building a continuous process improvement culture
  • Able to work independently and provide expert advice
  • Competent in the preparation of strategies to define and execute optimisation opportunities for continuous improvement within supply chain .
  • High level commercial acumen.

Knowledge

  • Insight into best practice in other organisations/sectors within supply chain
  • Process management and improvement
  • Analytical capability
  • Familiarity with MMG’s Business Model and aspiration
  • Understanding of MMG Procurement Policies, standards and practices
  • Understanding of MMG Warehouse and Inventory Policies, standards and practices
  • Ability to collect and use data to form solutions to problems

Experience

  • At least 10 years’ experience in Supply Chain Procurement or Senior Supply Chain Functional Lead roles
  • Proven delivery of process or business improvement within Supply Chain
  • Experience in people leadership and operations management

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualified
  • Relevant Degree or Diploma or equivalent
