About the role
MMG’s head office currently has a vacancy for an Assistant Treasurer, part of the global Finance function. Based in our Melbourne Head Office, the purpose of the role is to oversee, monitor and manage MMG’s internal and external funding structures, and take responsibility for treasury accounting as well as treasury governance and excellence. This role also provides general support and advice to the Group Treasurer in relation to various reports and projects (e.g. M&A activity), cross-functional relationship management, and other relevant matters.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
Management of all aspects of group debt facilities, including compliance obligations, and general lender management.
Co-ordination of negotiations and drafting of supporting documentation for new funding agreements.
Thought-leadership in relation to structing of new debt (internal and external) for re-financing and acquisition transactions.
Drafting of recurring reports to the MMG Board and its committees, JV Board and senior management.
Developing and maintaining collaborative strategic partnerships as a key liaison between Group Treasury and other MMG group functions and sites.
Supervision of the Dealer Financial Markets, with responsibility for managing the group’s financial market risks including corporate liquidity, foreign exchange, commodity and interest rates along with the Group Treasury financial risk management strategy.
General contract management in relation to Group Treasury corporate finance activity (including ISDA’s, internal loan agreements, transaction banking agreements, bank guarantee indemnities).
Responsible for Treasury reporting, budget and analysis, including preparation of information for the MMG Group statutory accounts
General corporate governance and risk management activities, in line with MMG’s internal frameworks and industry best-practice requirements, with responsibility for the Group’s Treasury Management System – Integrity.
The role requires the following:
Significant experience in Finance and commercial roles within a multinational organisation (ideally with experience in mining).
Exposure to financial markets, instruments and terminology.
Knowledge of global debt and capital.
Experience in Corporate Treasury roles, functions, controls, systems and processes including cash and liquidity management, funding and capital markets and financial risk management.
Familiarity with AML, PPSA and sanctions regimes.
Understanding of financial and management accounting concepts.
