Maintenance Planner

MMG Rosebery:

Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia and is 100% owned by MMG Limited.

With continuous production since 1936 Rosebery mine has current potential to extend life beyond 2028.  This underground mine has continually attracted and produced world class professionals. With a strong community focus and core values including safety and integrity, we are proud of our role in community development and our economic contribution to the local Tasmanian industry.

The operation continues to deliver excellent operational performance and employs over 500 employees and contractors who reside in the local region.

Maintenance Planner

Reporting to the Senior Planner, the key purpose of this role is to provide planning services to support the Superintendent - Fixed Plant Maintenance in the delivery of the weekly electrical maintenance schedule. These services include reviewing notifications for accuracy & completeness, ensuring work that is on the ready-to-schedule backlog is fully planned and that the provision of contract maintenance resources for major or specialised jobs has occurred.

The role is offered on a residential 8:6 roster from Rosebery or DIDO from within Tasmania

Competencies, qualifications and skills:

  • An unwavering commitment to workplace safety and a demonstrated expertise in establishing cultures and systems that embed safety awareness.
  • Tertiary qualifications or Trades qualification.
  • Extensive planning and scheduling exposure in a mineral processing fixed plant maintenance operations environment
  • As a successful candidate, you will have good communication and effective management skills. Most importantly you will have strong experience within a similar role
  • Knowledge of SAP system in particular SAP PM and Master Data objects
  • Demonstrable industry experience, including underground experience
  • Demonstrated experience directing and managing contractor or consultant activities.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining reporting and recording requirements in an accurate and timely manner
  • Reviewing notifications for accuracy and completeness, and amending notifications as necessary
  • Creating maintenance work orders from notifications
  • Building and managing standard job plans, which include task lists, labour (both internal and external), materials, relevant documentation, required permits, maintenance spares and equipment
  • Ensuring work that is on the ready-to-schedule backlog is fully planned (i.e. tasks have been assessed, time estimates for each discipline have been made, materials have been identified and ordered, all relevant documentation has been identified)
  • Updating standard job plans, modify preventive maintenance (PM) frequency and updating BOM's as necessary
  • Producing effective plans to ensure mine infrastructure and mobile equipment are maintained to a standard to enable annual plan targets to be met, and the long-term integrity of assets are established
  • Minimising work area maintenance costs through the identification and elimination of non-value adding work process, elimination of waste and maximisation of planned work
  • Understanding the cost drivers in the mine in order to seek improvement in unit cost performance, submitting and implementing cost saving ideas
  • Assisting in the development of the mine maintenance budget to achieve the annual plan
  • Managing expenditure to within budget levels and developing a forecast of future maintenance requirement
