Information about the role
Reporting to the Manager - Supply Chain Africa, the Senior Specialist Contract Management ensures that MMG derives maximum value from its external spend through leadership and support of Specialists / Analysts in the execution and implementation structured market engagements and ongoing category and contract stewardship for all the contract management activities in MMG Kinsevere site. To achieve this, the Senior Specialist Contract Management requires direct experience and capability across the range of skills required of Senior Specialists / Analysts plus broad understanding and capability to apply the MMG Leadership Framework ADISIA (Adaptability, Developing Others, Inclusiveness, Self-Awareness, Influence & Accountability).
Senior Specialist Contract Management are responsible for ensuring that planning and execution of contract management activities in MMG Kinsevere site, especially focus on key and critical high value and high risk contracts management (mining, blasting, drilling, security, camp management etc) etc, to select suppliers capable of fulfilling MMG’s needs, and for the on-going stewardship of their allocated categories of external spend are undertaken in support of MMG priorities and strategic objectives.
Specific accountabilities and activities include:
Coach and support specialists/analysts with appropriate skills;
Implement MMG's people systems and standards of accountability, performance and values in own area; and
Understand the requirements of MMG's operations as well as the needs of key stakeholders;\
Ensure that contract management standards and procedures are applied in the execution of contracts, where applicable
Ensure that the work performed meets all compliance requirements established by MMG standards, quality standards, procedures and work instructions.
Qualifications, skills & competencies
Preferably tertiary qualified in a Commercial/Business discipline or Engineering;
Ability to plan, prioritise, and coach others to manage changing requirements
Ability to establish expectations and coach others in the planning and execution of contract management activities and negotiation strategies
Strong written communication skills
Robust understanding of MMG Standards and Process Framework
Proven ability to coach and develop team members in the identification and delivery of total cost reduction and efficiency opportunities.
Expertise in Category Management, Strategic Sourcing and Contract Management models and approaches
Preference for 5-10 years’ experience in Procurement or Supply Chain Sourcing and leadership roles , with focus on contract management etc (Alternative relevant industry experience in other Functional areas would also be considered e.g. Finance , Commercial, Operations)
