Rosebery Mine is one Tasmania’s largest mines and has been the beating heart of the town for more than 86 years mining zinc, copper and lead concentrates, and gold doré. Rosebery is located on Tasmania's west coast near Strahan and a couple of hours drive from Burnie and Devonport. Closure Study Lead
The key responsibility of this role is to Deliver major closure studies, closure inputs for LoA planning including, closure cost estimates, cost schedules, progressive rehabilitation opportunities and activity recommendations as well as Investigate opportunities to minimise closure costs, optimise cash flow and maximise tax benefits within the confines of regulatory compliance and meeting stakeholder obligations.
Offered on residential 5/2:4/3 roster or a flexible 8/6 roster for those of you wanting to DIDO, this role enables you to discover the pristine west coast and spend every evening with your friends and family in a supportive, inclusive community.
To be successful in this role you will have excellent working knowledge of mine closure planning frameworks, and of the technical and socio-economic interdependencies that can affect closure and a deep understanding of primary closure/rehabilitation mechanisms such as cover systems, landform stability, water management/treatment etc. In depth knowledge of long term and broad scale rehabilitation monitoring methodologies and technologies that can effectively monitor rehabilitation.
Proven track record of leading multi-functional technical teams in the delivery of closure studies, as well as closure plans and cost estimates/financial guarantees that received Regulatory approval
Good experience within the mining industry in the fields of mine closure, land remediation and/or environmental and social impact assessment. Excellent communication and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to contribute and work effectively in a team.
Tertiary qualification in Environmental Engineering (alternatively Civil Engineer, Mining Engineer, Geologist or Environmental Scientist).
