Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia and is 100% owned by MMG Limited.
With continuous production since 1936 Rosebery mine has current potential to extend life beyond 2028. This underground mine has continually attracted and produced world class professionals. With a strong community focus and core values including safety and integrity, we are proud of our role in community development and our economic contribution to the local Tasmanian industry.
The operation continues to deliver excellent operational performance and employs over 500 employees and contractors who reside in the local region.
Reporting to the Metallurgy Superintendent, the Metallurgical Technician is responsible for the provision of routine tasks which support the function of the Metallugy team. These tasks assist in laboratory work, perform sample preparation, and support the accuracy and function of key instrumentation in the plant.
This role is offered on an 5/2:4/3 residential roster in Rosebery or DIDO from other locations in Tasmania
Competencies, qualifications and skills:
Understanding of core processes within base and precious metal concentrators including crushing, grinding, gravity gold recovery, base metals flotation, thickening, dewatering and paste operation
Understanding of basic laboratory tasks - sample splitting drying, wet and dry sizing.
A strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Basic understanding of metallurgical instrumentation.
Plant trial, survey and laboratory testwork techniques.
An understanding of continuous processing facility operations.
Key responsibilities will include:
Demonstrate commitment to SHEC initiatives by ensuring all work follows the Safe Work methodology.
Plan, manage, track & report on small projects
Review of metallurgical plant instrumentation functionality and assurance of calibration of the instruments.
Routine plant sampling for analysis on site or dispatch to external laboratory.
Assist in Metallurgical accounting tasks as requested.
Become a site Radiation Officer
Undertake laboratory and plant testwork and assist in surveys to identify, ratify and ultimately execute improvement opportunities to assist delivery of Safety, Volume and Cost targets.
Assist in scheduling of concentrate for transport from site to ensure daily consignments are maintained within specifications.
Interact openly with the operations staff daily, providing coaching and mentoring to improve their knowledge of the operation.
