Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia and is 100% owned by MMG Limited.
With continuous production since 1936 Rosebery mine has current potential to extend life beyond 2028. This underground mine has continually attracted and produced world class professionals. With a strong community focus and core values including safety and integrity, we are proud of our role in community development and our economic contribution to the local Tasmanian industry.
The operation continues to deliver excellent operational performance and employs over 500 employees and contractors who reside in the local region.
We are currently looking for an Experienced Mine Supervisor to plan, coordinate and manage tasks which are required to be safely completed on a daily basis in the underground mine to meet the weekly mining schedule and as directed by the Mine Superintendent.
The Mine Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of all personnel under their control and ensure tasks are carried out safely, as assigned and as per safe work methods.
This role is offered on a working roster of 7 shifts on (Night/day), 7 days off roster.
Assuming direct control and responsibility for all activities within the area of responsibility
Ensuring tasks are assigned to personnel who have the skills, knowledge, experience and temperament to complete the task safety
Confirming personnel are fit for work and have the resources required for the allocated task
Making sure production targets and priorities are safely met as per the daily plan and direction from the Mine Superintendent
Driving safety behaviours to achieve zero harm, be accountable and drive safety as a front-line function
Qualifications & Competencies
To be successful in the position we ideally require:
A total commitment to safety
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in an underground mine
Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience at an underground mine
Exposure and experience with the operation of a variety of mining equipment
Solid experience in a hard rock mining environment, including both development and production.
General experience with mine ventilation, dewatering, geotechnical awareness and drill and blast methods
Full driver’s license
Able to problem solve and multitask
Ability to lead and work within a crew that achieves safety and physical expectations whilst complementing the full Mining Operations team.
Comfortable to speak in front of large groups of people.
