MMG Rosebery:

Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia and is 100% owned by MMG Limited.

With continuous production since 1936 Rosebery mine has current potential to extend life beyond 2028.  This underground mine has continually attracted and produced world class professionals. With a strong community focus and core values including safety and integrity, we are proud of our role in community development and our economic contribution to the local Tasmanian industry.

The operation continues to deliver excellent operational performance and employs over 500 employees and contractors who reside in the local region.

Environmental Studies Coordinator

We have an exciting opportunity within the Environment, Community and Closure (ECC) department for an enthusiastic and driven person who is looking to take the next step in their career at Rosebery Mine in the role as Environmental Studies Coordinator.  

Reporting to the Stakeholder and Approvals Lead, as the Environmental Studies Coordinator - you will be involved with the site operations life extension projects across all departments.

The role will be responsible for supporting the Project teams to ensure the relevant environmental studies are completed on time to meet Project schedules.

This role is remotely based on a 5/2 4/3 – 10 hour a day, with an expectation to be onsite 1 week of each month or an as needed basis.

Competencies, qualifications and skills:

  • Build and maintain effective relationships;
  • Experience in the preparation of environmental approvals documents, government liaison and obtaining regulatory approvals in Tasmania;
  • Strong ecological background with a Tasmanian focus;
  • Track record for improving in-field environmental management practises within the construction, mining or forestry industries;
  • Negotiation to manage stakeholder expectations;
  • Communication (written and verbal) including the ability to distil key messages;
  • Scheduling and budget control to enable team prioritisation and time management across multiple tasks;
  • Scheduling and work planning.
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Environmental or Earth Sciences with 5+ years’ experience in a technical Mining operations role.
  • Knowledge and experience in Code of Conduct & Values, Business Model & Operating Model, SHEC standards.

 Key responsibilities will include:

Provide technical Environmental support, guidance to project personnel, focusing on directly supporting applicable Environmental needs of intra-department Supervisors and Superintendents.
