Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

MMG Dugald River:

Dugald River is one of the world’s top 10 zinc operations, located near Cloncurry in North West Queensland. Dugald River was successfully commissioned ahead of schedule and under budget, with first production of zinc concentrate leaving Dugald River in November 2017. Dugald River is estimated to have a mine life of 20+ years to process an average of 1.7 million tons of ore per annum. The operation predominantly produces zinc concentrate, with by-products including lead and silver.

Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Technician to join our team at Dugald River Mine.  

Reporting to the Surface Electrical Supervisor, you will provide Maintenance support to the Dugald River Mine operations.

This role is a based on an 8/6 dayshift (night shift as required). Drive in drive out (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mt Isa, or FIFO from Townsville. Relocation support can also be available for successful candidates who reside outside of the local region and who wish to relocate to Cloncurry or Mount Isa districts.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Dual trade certification in Electrical and Instrumentation along with at least 3-5 years of trade experience.
  • Strong work ethic, safety values, and an extensive maintenance background including underground, the ability to perform all repairs within scope, installation, servicing, overhauls, and commissioning in a hard rock underground mining environment
  • Solid experience in HV switchgear and RMU’s, motor controls, variable speed AC drives, Schneider PLCs, pneumatic and electronic process control instrumentation.
  • Literacy in a computerised maintenance management system such as SAP will be highly regarded.
  • Good communications will be advantageous in this role.

 Some of the key responsibilities will include;

  • Ensuring statutory compliance in maintaining fixed Electrical and Instrumentation infrastructure whilst providing a safe working culture.
  • The reliability and safe operation of assets are integral to this position, as daily and weekly targets are measured against with production targets as critical KPI’s.
  • You will apply duty of care as per Queensland Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Regulation and maintain a clean working environment, free from hazards and aligning to the MMG code of conduct and values.
  • You will also be called upon as required to perform the same tasks in the mineral processing fixed plant maintenance operations environment.
  • Important to the role, will be your experience within fault finding and fixed plant maintenance for a heavy industrial and process environment.
