Dugald River is one of the world’s top 10 zinc operations, located near Cloncurry in Queensland. Dugald River was successfully commissioned ahead of schedule and under budget, with first production of zinc concentrate in October 2017.Dugald River is estimated to have a mine life of 20+ years processing an average of 1.7 million tonnes of ore per annum. The operation predominantly produces zinc concentrate, with by-products including lead and silver.
Manager - Business Development & Improvement
Reporting to the General Manager, this role will be accountable for leading and managing the development of long-term growth strategies to maximise the potential of the Dugald River operation. As the Development and Improvement Manager you will coordinate and support the delivery of short-term site improvement functions to deliver continuous business improvement across all areas of the operations, including volume improvement and cost reduction. You will be responsible for leading the Geological function to develop the exploration potential of the Dugald River site and provide expert support to Mine Operations and Mine Technical Services. You will also be accountable for leading and coordinating the Management of critical site data to deliver streamlined reporting and optimised analysis of operational performance across areas of the business.
This role is available on an 8/6, 4/3 roster. The role is available on a drive in, drive out basis (DIDO) from the Cloncurry or Mount Isa Districts or FIFO from Townsville or Brisbane. An attractive additional incentive is available to employees who live or move into the Cloncurry township. Qualifications highly desired;
An undergraduate qualification in a resources related discipline and a continued education in leadership development, business management and continuous improvement
Competencies & knowledge highly desired;
This role requires extensive experience in site operational leadership in one or more of the following functions in the resources industry: Mining Operations, Processing Operations, Asset Management, Operational Excellence
Significant experience in the management of people, budgets and programmes of work
Demonstrated experience in achieving business outcomes in complex environments
Extensive knowledge of effective management and leadership tools, techniques and methods
Contemporary knowledge and application of operational planning processes and Theory of Constraints
Some of your key responsibilities will include;
Work and collaborate with Dugald River leadership team, Australian Operations support function managers and group functions, to establish operational objectives and tactical plans.
Embed the MMG values, Code of Conduct, Risk Management and other MMG Standards into our operations to deliver safe site production and ensure compliance to legislative obligations
Determine department objectives, formalise and cascade plan(s), and manage performance against plan(s)
Develop, coordinate and implement a growth strategy and work programs to maximise the potential of the Dugald River asset
Working with Site Operational Delivery teams develop operational and Improvement Initiatives
In conjunction with site operational and Australian Operations functional areas develop a site Business Plan and an optimised integrated improvement plan that delivers maximum value to the operation
Leveraging group resources and knowledge to ensure maximum ROI of improvement initiatives
Lead and manage assigned resources and provide expert geological support to the Dugald River operation
Provide oversite and coordinate site Risk Management processes
Coordinate, manage and continuously develop site data reporting systems
