MMG Dugald River:

Dugald River is one of the world’s top 10 zinc operations, located near Cloncurry in Queensland. Dugald River was successfully commissioned ahead of schedule and under budget, with first production of zinc concentrate leaving Dugald River in November 2017. Dugald River is estimated to have a mine life of 20+ years to process an average of 1.7 million tonnes of ore per annum. The operation predominantly produces zinc concentrate, with by-products including lead and silver.

We have an outstanding opportunity for a brilliant Human Resource Business Partner to join us at our Dugald River operations in North West Queensland.

As a HR Business Partner, this role understands and supports the operating model and provides valuable, practical advice in line with MMG’s People Policy, Standards, Code of Conduct, and applicable legislation. You’ll play an essential role advancing a more diverse, accessible, equitable, and inclusive culture through our progressive people practices.

This role is based on an 8/6 roster, drive in drive out from Cloncurry or Mount Isa or fly in fly out from Townsville or Brisbane.

Qualifications Skills and Competencies;

  • Tertiary qualification HR/ER/IR or business-related field (preferred)
  • HR Business Partner experience in a site-based role working in a mining company
  • Experience interpreting and negotiating Enterprise Agreements
  • Experience liaising with Union and other third-party organisations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills, including discretion and diplomacy
  • Excellent interpersonal and management skills with the ability to lead, influence and motivate teams of professionals to achieve operational and business targets
  • High level of conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and implement strategies and improvements
  • Understanding of the application of Industrial Relations framework and legislation
  • Logical thinker with a pragmatic approach to problem solving

Some of your key responsibilities will include;

  • An unwavering commitment to workplace safety and a demonstrated expertise in establishing cultures and systems that embed safety awareness
  • Building relationships with business leaders on site to offer thought leadership on organisational and people-related strategy, operations and execution.
  • Collecting, using and requesting data strategically. Identify trends in both qualitative and quantitative data to help improve organizational health, and assist in making smart, informed decisions, and interpret complex analysis and tie this analysis back to business priorities
  • Lead in identifying and providing solutions to problems and get to the root cause of the issue. Design and quickly implement solutions that cut across multiple disciplines, even those beyond people and organisational solutions
  • Provide expertise and support to business to ensure key HR systems are understood and embedded into operational practice, Including standards and procedures, recruitment and selection, equal employment opportunities, remuneration, performance management, grievance and discipline management and employee relations.
  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of HR business improvement projects and initiatives including but not limited to: diversity and inclusion, change management and engagement.
