MMG Rosebery:

Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia and is 100% owned by MMG Limited.

With continuous production since 1936 Rosebery mine has current potential to extend life beyond 2028.  This underground mine has continually attracted and produced world class professionals. With a strong community focus and core values including safety and integrity, we are proud of our role in community development and our economic contribution to the local Tasmanian industry.

The operation continues to deliver excellent operational performance and employs over 500 employees and contractors who reside in the local region.

Community Liaison Coordinator

Reporting to the Superintendent Environment & Community, The Community Liaison Coordinator will provide high level advise to the Rosebery mine site by being a trusted partner in the communities impacted by the mining and logistics activities at Rosebery.

This role will be responsible for strategic management of relationships with communities, as well as support internal and external communications and support in the delivery of social investment in the communities that we work in.

This role is offered on a 5/2, 4/3 roster residential in Rosebery or DIDO from other locations within Tasmania.

Competencies, qualifications and skills:

  • Tertiary qualifications in community relations, marketing communications, social science or a related discipline are desirable
  • Good experience in community relations, public relations or communications and/or similar roles preferred
  • Experience in a regional or corporate social development or community role in the resources sector or government would be looked upon favourably
  • Excellent communication including the ability to distil key messages to different audiences
  • Interpersonal skills and influencing capabilities to form key relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience working on complex and sensitive issues
  • Copywriting skills
  • The ability to manage local issues and events
  • Excellent organisational skills, including time management
  • Capable SAP user

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Day-to-day engagement and support with key external stakeholders including; local community members and local government
  • Support in delivering management and mitigation strategies for social and reputational risk
  • Support the development and delivery of Stakeholder Engagement and Social Development strategies and plans; legacy programs; closure strategy and planning
  • Support the development and delivery of community communications such newsletters, notifications, and digital content
  • Manage local sponsorships, donations and events in consultation with Superintendent
  • Manage and monitor all local agreements and programs in consultation with Superintendent
  • Manage Community Liaison Office
  • Manage community email inbox and community phone line
  • Manage community grievances and complaints in consultation with Superintendent Community & Environment and Stakeholder Relations Lead
  • Support the delivery/facilitation of socio-economic surveys and Social Impact Assessments
  • Support all information, data and reporting requirements including the Annual Report; Sustainability Report; and monthly Executive Committee and Social Performance report (including grievances); and other relevant site-based reporting, information and data management
  • Ensure complete and accurate recording of data from stakeholder interactions, including forums, events and/or meeting.
