Training Coordinator

MMG Dugald River:

The mine; Dugald River is fully owned by MMG Limited and is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc operation and is mined underground. Dugald River is expected to produce around 180,000 – 190,000 tonnes of zinc in zinc concentrate annually. The operation employs around 500 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis. 

The deposit; Dugald River is a unique Zinc deposit being 70Mt in resource which has the potential to extend beyond a 20-year mine life. Orebody Knowledge completed since 2017 has substantially increased the geological understanding that has contributed to grade control, reconciliation and growth at Dugald River.

The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking an experienced Training Coordinator. Reporting to the Training Lead, you be pivotal in ensuring all personnel have adequate skills and competencies to undertake required work in a safe and efficient manner. You will deliver training across a broad range of topics, particularly in underground mining operations. You will co-ordinate and manage all training requirements and ensure accurate training records are maintained, as well as reviewing and developing training resources and updating as necessary.

This role will be based on an 4/3-day shift roster, drive in drive out (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mt Isa or fly in fly out (FIFO) from Townsville. Relocation support will be available for successful candidates who reside outside of the local region who wish to relocate to the Cloncurry or Mount Isa districts.

Qualifications, Competencies & knowledge highly desired;

  • Certificate IV Workplace Training and Assessing (minimum);
  • Drivers license – manual;
  • A minimum of 5-8 years operational experience in related training roles;
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and facilitate training;
  • Ability to plan, schedule and coordinate training activities and training resources; And
  • Computer and software literacy including but not limited to Microsoft Office Software suite and SAP business enterprise systems.

Some of your key responsibilities will include;

  • Provide advice and support across the operation on the effective delivery of training and assessment processes;
  • Facilitate training, including but not limited to the Induction and Onboarding processes and other common training programs, particularly pertaining to underground mining operations;
  • Develop and communicate training schedules and training gap analysis reports that allow Departments to manage training gaps and optimise competencies and compliance;
  • Support processes that effectively manage the Learning Management System;
  • Conduct annual training plan reviews with Departments, develop ongoing training plans, maintain TNA processes; And
  • Provide guidance and support to Training Advisors, authorised assessors and external training providers to ensure efficient use of training resources.
