MMG Rosebery:

Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia and is 100% owned by MMG Limited.

With continuous production since 1936 Rosebery mine has current potential to extend life beyond 2028.  This underground mine has continually attracted and produced world class professionals. With a strong community focus and core values including safety and integrity, we are proud of our role in community development and our economic contribution to the local Tasmanian industry.

The operation continues to deliver excellent operational performance and employs over 500 employees and contractors who reside in the local region.

Emergency Services Co-ordinator

The Emergency Services Co-ordinator delivers emergency preparedness, response and management activities and supports safety delivery at the Rosebery operation. The role has a short term (0-12months) focus on delivery of the Rosebery Emergency Management Plan and Rosebery Emergency Response and Management Procedure and associated documents.

This role reports to the Manager Safety Training, Heath & Security and is offered on a 5/2:4/3 roster residential to Rosebery.

Competencies, qualifications and skills:

  • Demonstrable experience in delivery of site-based emergency response in mining, construction or industrial setting;
  • Experience working in remote location and/or DIDO/FIFO operation;
  • Experience in delivery of emergency response training under a registered training organisation (RTO) agreement;
  • Experience in supervising and mentoring high performing emergency response teams
  • A thorough knowledge of safety, health and emergency response related legislation.
  • A sound knowledge of MMG Fatal Risk Standard requirements
  • Certificate III Mine Rescue (Preference to include UG units);
  • Certificate II Security Operations (Desirable);
  • Certificate IV Health Care (Desirable);
  • Certification IV Workplace Training and Assessment;
  • Current manual drivers licence.
  • Drug and alcohol testing qualification (National Certificate to Australian Standards

Key responsibilities will include:

Emergency Preparedness

  • Supporting review of site-specific risks to identify relevant material risks and reasonably foreseeable emergency scenarios;
  • Supporting implementation of the Rosebery Emergency Management Plan, Emergency Response and Emergency Management Procedures;
  • Maintaining emergency equipment condition and operability in accordance with OEM specifications;
  • Supporting Department in the delivery of training and awareness in initial emergency response requirements;
  • Implementing and maintaining fire and evacuation plans and support delivery of respective training of site personnel in responding to these plans;
  • Train area or floor wardens in emergency systems and processes relevant to their area of responsibility;
  • Recording emergency training attendance and competencies in an MMG Learning Management System (LMS);
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining relevant Site Emergency Contact Lists;
  • Developing a schedule of planned evacuations for the operations and ensure they are executed, debriefed and actions tracked to completion.

Emergency Response

  • Implementing an Annual Emergency Response Team (ERT) Training Schedule including delivery of regular on-site training to maintain ERT skills and response preparedness;
  • Develop and implement contingency plans for periods when primary Fire Appliance is offline for servicing and maintenance
  • Undertake day-to-day maintenance of primary and secondary Fire Appliances and Equipment;
  • Ensure preventative and scheduled maintenance and servicing of firefighting, rescue and emergency response equipment is undertaken by suitably qualified personnel;
  • Maintain a register of on-shift ERT members, and advise the Duty Manager if ERT manning is insufficient to provide the required level of response; and
  • Support recruitment of ERT members who meet the requirements and aptitude for the job with respect to skills, temperament and experience.
  • Undertake reviews and approve rescue plans for high risk operational work.

Emergency Management

  • Support development, maintenance and review of duty cards, which clearly defined the roles and responsibilities of the site Emergency Management Team;
  • Support implementation of the Rosebery Emergency Management Team (EMT) Annual Exercise Schedule;
  • Support maintenance of EMT skills and response preparedness via delivery of regular on-site EMT training; and
  • Preparation and participation in audits (Internal and external)
