MMG Rosebery:

Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia and is 100% owned by MMG Limited.

With continuous production since 1936 Rosebery mine has current potential to extend life beyond 2028.  This underground mine has continually attracted and produced world class professionals. With a strong community focus and core values including safety and integrity, we are proud of our role in community development and our economic contribution to the local Tasmanian industry.

The operation continues to deliver excellent operational performance and employs over 500 employees and contractors who reside in the local region.

Project lead – Tailings

We have an exciting opportunity within the Rosebery Tailings Team for an enthusiastic and driven person who is looking to take the next step in their career.

Reporting to the Manager-Tailings Project, you will be responsible for effectively planning and managing significant site-based water and tailings projects with the objectives of safety, environmental compliance, cost effectiveness, and timely completion.

This role is based on an 4/3, residential roster based in Rosebery

Competencies, qualifications and skills:

  • Tertiary qualification in a mechanical or civil engineering, and/or relevant TSF technical qualifications.
  • Manual driver’s license for light vehicles
  • Project Management Qualification (AIPM certification) - Desirable
  • First aid certificate – Desirable

Key responsibilities will include:

Provide Rosebery mines with functional expertise in study management of tailings storage facilities (TSF) and water dams design and operational review to:

  • Direct all TSF and surface water studies and projects from concept through to implementation readiness.
  • Provide technical support and review throughout implementation and operation.
  • Develop and implement systems that measure and manage TSF capacities and filling rates.
  • Develop strategies for future capacity requirements in line with the MMG LoA (Life of Asset) process.
  • Drive the development of projects relating to existing tailings storage facilities
  • Work with key stakeholders to develop strategies to improve and optimise site water usage and treatment activities, including maintenance of the site water balance model. 
  • Accountable for all contractor engagement and management in relation to agreed TSF project development.
  • Fulfil requirements of the control owner for risk “TSF capacity Restriction”.
  • Be the main point of contact with any project partners, consultants, contractors.
  • Progress feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, impact assessments and project business cases.
  • Compile and maintain project documentation.
  • Develop cost and schedule estimates, update cost and schedule forecasts regularly explaining any variance and manage actuals to budget.
