About MMG Rosebery
Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia.
The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.
It supports approximately 500 workers and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.
MMG has an office in Burnie, giving employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.
Rosebery is located on Tasmania's west coast in close proximity to Strahan and a couple of hours drive from Burnie and Devonport. Rosebery offers exceptional outdoor experiences with fishing, canoeing, white water rafting, rock climbing and walking at your doorstep.
Mechanical Maintenance Tradesperson
Fantastic career opportunity available for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team at Rosebery in Tasmania. Reporting to the Supervisor-Mechanical- Mill Maintenance, this role is responsible to carry out maintenance tasks in accordance with planned maintenance schedules and undertake production activities as required.
This role is offered on a 7 on 7 off roster and includes night shift, residential in Rosebery or DIDO from other locations within Tasmania.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure all reporting and recording requirements are met and communication channels are maintained and improved
- Assist teams in developing a continuous improvement culture
- Maintain all areas of the fixed plant including crushing, grinding, flotation and filtration; this includes servicing, fault finding, repair and commissioning.
- Identify root cause of failure and generate improvement strategies.
- Identify and evaluate non-conformances and provide support to develop corrective actions for continuous improvement to aspects of plant operations, safety, maintenance, equipment’s utilisation and effectiveness
- Assist with the implementation of management systems for processes, with the objective of minimising process variation and exceeding customer requirements
- Determine the needs of the customer by effective communication and acting on those needs
- Provide skills, knowledge and experience to assist in the development of surface preventative maintenance schedules
- Carry our asset repairs and upgrades daily and in shutdowns, as preventative maintenance and inspections, in particular with issues that affect metallurgical performance
- Use of computerised maintenance management systems (SAP).
- Support the Plant Outages – as required

You have well developed technical skills and personal attributes including the following:
- Demonstrable post trade experience in a mining environment or heavy industrial environment.
- Experience in the maintenance in all areas of the fixed plant including crushing, grinding, flotation and filtration; this includes servicing, fault finding, repair and commissioning.
- Ability to interpret and deliver on scheduled maintenance plan
- Ability to maintain, diagnose faults and repair equipment to OEM specifications.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Basic Computer skills: MS office
- Basic SAP maintenance skills (desirable)
- Working knowledge of Tasmania mining regulations.
- Working knowledge of Australian standards
