Dugald River mine:

Dugald River is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since 2017.

The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April 2023 the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine’s power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition.

Dugald River employs around 750 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis. The village provides all the amenities including a gym, with a women’s only area, a tennis court, swimming pool, walking track and entertainment area.  

 Advisor – Environment

Are you an enthusiastic environmental professional with a can-do attitude and a passion for making a difference? The Dugald River Mine is seeking a team member to join our dynamic Environment Team as we tackle climate change, embrace renewable energy, and expand our operations sustainably.

This role will be based on an 8/6, drive-in drive-out (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mt Isa or fly-in fly-out (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane.

The Role:

In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting our environmental goals. You'll be involved in various activities, including:

• Environmental sample collection (surface water, groundwater, air, sediment), results analysis/interpretation and drafting regulator correspondence (if required)
• Hiring and onboarding environmental consultants, reviewing their deliverables, and processing billing
• Project management of environmental initiatives/improvements and delivering high-quality work
• Collecting data for NGERS, NPI and Sustainability reporting

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Law or relevant experience
• Class C Driver’s Licence (Manual) with 4WD experience highly desirable
• Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office)

We are looking for someone with:

• A positive and can-do attitude with a willingness to learn
• Experience in environmental sampling, results analysis, and reporting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Problem-solving and time management skills
• Drone licence or interest in obtaining one
• Broad understanding of mining and minerals processing and the potential environmental impacts relating to these practices.
• (Optional but desirable) Experience preparing applications or supporting material for Environmental Authority amendments, Estimated Rehabilitation Costs or Annual Returns
• (Optional but desirable) Experience with ArcGIS
