GENERAL INFORMATION

 

We are looking for an experienced Congolese for the position of Senior Business Analyst in our Commercial department. This is a position with a rotation of 5 working days and 2 days off with a competitive remuneration package. Based in Kinsevere and reporting to the Superintendent - Commercial, this development opportunity is offered in the first instance to all MMG employees who meet the profile and wish to develop themselves through this role as well as all other external applicants willing to join MMG family.

 

The purpose of the role is provision of ongoing meaningful and timely business information for decision-makers and support the Commercial Superintendent to service Operations department and maintain control over capital and operating costs in accordance with company policy. The role also involves working with other departments to develop and continually improve their understanding of their costs, drivers and support site business improvement initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure effective and accurate business analysis for Operations department in a timely manner, such as Mining, Mine Technical Service (MTS), Processing and Maintenance.

  • Support cost reduction, business improvement initiatives and educating on cost drivers to all departments.

  • Support Planning and Reporting team with daily and monthly costs variance analysis, not limited to Short Term Cash Forecasting and EBIT estimates. Provide business analysis for ad-hoc variance and scenario analysis for forecast, budget and LoA for Operations department.

  • Support effective monthly departmental costs review with operations department and ensuring issues and actions items are addressed in a timely manner. Coordinate monthly Cost Review meetings.

  • Provide business analysis for SAP process and system change for special projects, for example major plant expansion.

  •  Provide technical support and coaching to Operations team when required.

  • Create and maintain analysis tools that are forward looking, KPI based, and enable 'what-if', scenario and trend analysis.

  • Support program as Plan to Manage (P2M) Representative.

  • Provide analytical support to centralised Group Office functions as required

 

REQUIRED CAPABILITIES

Skills

  • Strong numerical reasoning and analytical skills

  • Ability to Interpret data and present findings concisely

  • Understanding Financial and Management Accounting skills

  • Practical knowledge and experience in the application and operation of ERP (SAP) and budget/forecasting tool (BPC, EPD, ECCS)

  • Intermediate Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • Proven ability to consistently meet strict deadlines

  • Demonstrate experience working un-supervised

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others as part of a team and contribute to a harmonious working environment.

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal

  • Ability to develop rapport, and build strong relationships with customers (both site and Group office)

  • Ability to work toward and meet deadlines whilst maintaining a flexible attitude toward the work performed

  • Is inquisitive, willing to learn, wants to understand how, what and why

  • Demonstrates and emulates positive safety characteristics and behaviours

  • Is expected to pro-actively assist and or support other sites and group in delivering consistency of reporting and analysis

 

Knowledge

  • Good understanding of all aspects of the minerals business

  • Exposure to business analysis and business improvement

  • Experience in Business case / benefits analysis standard practices and financial analysis tools

  • Familiarisation with business planning process and scheduling

  • Financial and Management Accounting standards and standard practices

  • Familiarisation with month-end and reporting requirements including quarterly and year-end reporting.

  • Effective presentation delivery

  • Well-developed analytical, interpretive and constructive / lateral thinking skills

  • Awareness of commercial contract and supply process

 

Experience

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in Accounting and Finance roles with large organisations with a minimum 5 years in a mine site environment.

  • Both Financial Accounting and Management Accounting background desirable

  • Business Analysis and business improvement background desirable

Qualifications

 

  • Finance / Business Degree

  • Professional Accounting Qualification
