Engineer - Reliability (Rosebery or Burnie, TAS)

MMG Rosebery:

The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré. It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.

MMG has an office in Burnie, giving employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.

Engineer - Reliability

Based in either Rosebery OR Burnie, TAS, we are currently seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to join our engineering team at Rosebery mine in Tasmania. Reporting to the Superintendent - Reliability Planning, you will be responsible for the identification and control of asset reliability risks that could adversely affect the Mining Operation.

This role will analyse equipment reliability, investigate events and opportunities, variances to plan and perform project work with a strong emphasis on safety, equipment reliability and maintenance quality. Focus will be given to developing our Reliability Engineering platforms, systems and building an analytical capacity that will optimise our cost and availability relationship.

This role is offered on a 5:2/4:3 residential roster - based in either Rosebery site OR Burnie office.

Competencies, qualifications and skills:

  • Mechanical Engineer with operational experience and a strong focus on reliability methodology for underground mobile equipment.
  • Ability to analyse plant and equipment condition information to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Ability to develop, implement and refine engineering solutions.
  • Sound understanding of engineering standards and documentation.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in developing budgets for Mobile Fleet Management.
  • Strong root cause analysis and FMEA experience.
  • Competent to lead structured investigations.
  • Advanced skill level in Excel.
  • Advanced skill level in PowerBI.
  • Good stakeholder management skills and ability to work cohesively with suppliers, industry experts and other stakeholders.
  • Experience within an operational maintenance, and or reliability engineering role will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in the use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (preferably SAP)

 Key responsibilities will include:

  • Analyse and report on plant and equipment data to monitor reliability and identify risks and opportunities
  • Deliver quantitative business outcomes and manage the plant and asset maintenance strategies
  • Develop and manage the plant and asset maintenance strategies
  • Conduct failure analysis on failed components for identified priority areas
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Provide technical advice, support and positive leadership
  • Build positive customer relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Be responsive and deliver a professional service
  • Identify opportunities where changes are required to capture plant and equipment data to monitor reliability
