Head of Tailings and Water

MMG’s Melbourne head office currently has a vacancy for a Head of Tailing and Water, part of the Operations and Technical Excellence Team and reporting to the General Manager Asset Management and Support. The role is pivotal in overseeing the management, operations, and strategic direction of tailings facilities within MMG’s global operational portfolio

The position will provide deep functional expertise in all aspects of the tailings facility, surface, and groundwater modeling and management to the business to ensure:

  • The tailings storage facilities (TSF) for the operating assets and project studies are optimised and managed to required HSEC and technical standards.
  • The water management systems and infrastructure at the operating assets are optimised and capable of delivering the business plan.
  • Technical due diligence on tailings and water management issues are delivered in support of the activities of project studies, independent reviewed, and M&A evaluations.

You will hold a degree in Engineer or Science, in relevant Tailings discipline or related qualification. This position requires a combination of technical expertise in mining and environmental engineering, strong leadership skills and a deep commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and community engagement.

You are known for your attention to detail and your advanced capability to interact with a broad range of internal external stakeholders across different cultures.  This is a broad and challenging role that involves working with a diverse group of stakeholders to effectively manage communications activities across the business.
