MMG Dugald River:

The mine; Dugald River is fully owned by MMG Limited and is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc operation and is mined underground. Dugald River is expected to produce around 180,000 – 190,000 tonnes of zinc in zinc concentrate annually. The operation employs around 500 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis. 

The Role

Reporting to the Underground Maintenance Electrical Supervisor, you will support the delivery of safety and productions targets of MMG Dugald River Mine Underground Operations. You will ensure statutory compliance in maintaining and installation of the underground electrical infrastructure whilst providing a safe working culture.   

This role will be based on an 8/7 and 7/6 (Days and Nights) roster on a BIBO from Cloncurry and Mt Isa districts or FIFO from Townsville. 

Qualifications, skills & competencies

• Safety leadership with a good level of knowledge in UG mining electrical infrastructure installation and maintenance principles.
• Problem-solving skills, electrical fault-finding skills, good communication skills across multiple stakeholders.
• Previous experience in underground metalliferous operations and HV / LV electrical distribution.
• Understanding of substation (RMU) maintenance and fault finding
• Primary and Secondary Dewatering experience
• Installation and maintenance of UG industrial networks (ethernet / WiFi)
• Experience in breakdown and maintenance of Sandvik Production and Development drills
• Experience with installation and maintenance Sandvik AutoMine systems
• QLD Electrical trade (Mechanic) qualification and valid current C Class Licence.

Responsibilities include

• Breakdown support to the team under the guidance of the Underground Electrical Supervisor.
• Assisting and preparing in shutdown planning strategies for Underground Fixed and Mobile assets.
• Ensure scheduled planned electrical activities for all equipment is both appropriate and completed so that the downtime is minimized, and MMG Dugald River mine operational requirements are met without delay to planned production schedules
• Installation of HV and LV Underground Electrical systems
• Installation and repair of Underground Automation systems
• At times you may be expected to perform reasonable additional duties that are related to your role but are not specified in your position description as directed by your supervisor
