Senior Coordinator – Health & Injury Management

About the role

Reporting to the Manager Safety, Health, Training & Security, the Senior Coordinator Health & Injury Management will assist in the provision of site compliance with corporate and legislative health standards, identify and implement health and injury management initiatives that improve safety and health performance and support and co-ordinate the day to day tasks of the sites Occupational Health Nurses.

With demonstrated experience within a mining environment, you will have well-developed skills and personal attributes including the following:

  • Intermediate nursing, medical and occupational hygiene knowledge
  • Ability to work as a sole practitioner Registered Nurse on a mine site or equivalent qualifications with minimum of two years as a people lead
  • Skills in advanced life support, cannulation, with venipuncture as essential
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health systems and equipment
  • Knowledge and experience in the development and delivery of respiratory protection, biological monitoring and noise conservation programs

This is a great career opportunity for a motivated Senior Coordinator Health & Injury Management who is looking to expand their capabilities within a supportive team environment. 

This is a permanent position ideally working a residential 5:2/4:3 roster. Other considerations for FIFO, DIDO from Tasmanian locations on even time roster options may be considered.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain a high-level of assessment, treatment and record keeping of both work related, and non-work related medical presentations
  • Accurate and timely reporting, escalation and internal classification of injuries and illnesses, quality documentation and administration of records
  • Co-ordinate Fitness for Work testing, lead in blood program, hygiene monitoring and other health initiatives
  • Facilitate Workplace rehabilitation and injury management, ensuring injuries are managed in a manner which is consistent with MMG and legislative requirements
  • Coordinate return to work activities including planning, implementation and review of return-to-work programs
  • Support site Lead risk management process, Occupational Hygiene Monitoring and Health Surveillance Plans on a day-to-day basis, including some on call and leave cover
  • Maintain systems to ensure workers who undergo health monitoring are advised of the results/outcomes and investigations for exceedances in a timely fashion
  • Maintain high levels of confidentiality and record management
  • Identify, implement and support initiatives that improve the quality and timeliness of health and wellness programs
  • Ensure medical service equipment and the medical facilities are maintained to a high standard
  • Developing protocols and maintain approvals for drugs in compliance with the statutory requirements
