About MMG Dugald River mine:
Dugald River is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since 2017.
The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April 2023 the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine’s power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition.
Dugald River employs around 750 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis. The village provides all the amenities including a gym, with a women’s only area, a tennis court, swimming pool, walking track and entertainment area.
Geology Technician
Reporting to the Senior Geology Technician, this role will see you provide logistic and administrative support to the geology team and contribute to the successful completion of the surface and underground drilling programs through accurate processing of drill core.
This role incorporates correct drill core mark up, orientation, RQD, cutting and sampling procedures, as well as underground photography of development faces using Adamtech technology.
To be successful in this role, you will have a positive attitude, high levels of motivation and a commitment to safe work practices. Essential to this will be a current manual drivers’ licence and a minimum of 1 year mining or exploration experience. Previous underground experience will be advantageous.
This is a permanent position based on an 8/6 roster, various transport arrangements are available including,
- drive in drive out from Cloncurry.
- Bus in Bus out from Mount Isa.
- Fly in Fly out from Townsville or Brisbane.
Some of your key responsibilities include:
- Complete all core processing activities as directed by the Senior Technician.
- Maintain the photography database.
- Maintain plant and equipment in good working order.
- underground photography of development faces using Adamtech technology (training provided).
- Assist geologists where necessary.
