Mechanical Fitter
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for experienced and ambitious Mechanical Fitter to join our team at Dugald River Mine.
This role will be based on an 8/6 roster with night shift as required, drive in drive out (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mount Isa or fly in fly out (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane.
Competencies & knowledge highly desired;
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a safety focus, be a strong problem solver and have extensive mechanical experience.
- Skilled in Fitter & Turner-Machinist/Boilermaker/Fitter Welder tasks, including repairs, installations, servicing, overhauls, and commissioning.
- Mineral processing maintenance experience and understanding of Jaw crushers, conveyor systems, Sag and Ball mills, floatation, filtration and pumping equipment.
- Capable of supervising Plant Shutdowns and major breakdowns when needed.
- Certified Dogman and Rigging Ticket holder (Basic & Intermediate).
- Experience in maintaining workshop machinery, mobile plant, cranage, rigging, and working-at-heights equipment.
- Provide underground maintenance of primary dewatering pump system
- Able to conduct risk assessments and support failure investigations.
- Literacy in a computerised maintenance management system such as SAP will be highly regarded.
Qualifications:
- Trade qualifications: Fitter & Turner, Machinist, Boilermaker, Fitter Welder
- S1, S2, S3 certifications
- Current First Aid, CPR, LVR, and Working at Heights (W@H) ticket
- Confined Spaces Entry (CSE) ticket
- Queensland “C” & “HR” class Driver’s Licenses (Manual)
- Non-Slew Crane, EWP, Forklift, and Dogman High Risk Licences
- Riggers (Basic & Intermediate) High Risk Licence
- Poly Welding ticket
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Apply Duty of Care under the Qld Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act.
- Ensure compliance with Department, Site, and Company Standards (Safe Task Management, Safe Work creation).
- Maintain statutory compliance for fixed infrastructure and ensure a safe working culture.
- Ensure compliance in using, maintaining, and inspecting workshop machinery, tools, mobile plant, cranage, rigging, and working-at-heights equipment.
- Conduct Equipment & Machinery VOCs and assist in training new employees and apprentices.
