Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia. The mine is a deep, sub-level open stoping operation with complex mining conditions.
The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.
It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.
The mine has a strong future, with extensive exploration activities which have continued to grow the resource and require mine planning beyond 10 years of continued operation.
MMG Rosebery has an office in Burnie (Tasmania), giving employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.
Senior Process Operator
Reporting to the Supervisor – Processing this role will see you supporting to the Shift Supervisor in order to be to be more effective in our Safety and Operations Management at the work front.
Responsibilities Include (however not limited to):
- Operational training of Operators
- Provide operational skills to the production of zinc, lead copper concentrates and gold dore in a safe, cost effective and environmentally manner.
- Work through production issues in liaison with the Production Team to ensure compliance with all operating strategy, targets and reporting.
- Provide clear succession planning and career development for high performing members of the Team
- Accurate reporting of daily logs and shift notes.
- Leave coverage for the Shift Supervisor with the site standards and procedures in SHEC.
- Support site safety initiatives and Incident investigations and reporting as directed by the Supervisor.
- Ensure hazards and sources of loss associated with the process are identified, evaluated and controlled.
- Contribute positively and actively to promote the MMG Roseberry values and behaviours.
- Maintenance reporting – Entering Notifications in SAP
- Procedure development and review
- Shutdown Preparation, Weekly and Major shuts
- Onboarding new starters, contactors and employees
- Operate and Monitor plant sections as directed by the Supervisor, Processing.
- Complete shift log sheets and record all daily variances
- Conduct clean-up duties where required to ensure plant equipment is functioning properly and safely.
- Build and enhance external contract networks while maintaining a positive image of MMG Roseberry to all external contacts.
- Comply with all reasonable and lawful instructions that are consistent with your contract of employment.
- Problem solving
- Assisting and providing guidance direction to the Process Monitors
- Supervise Contract partners on ROM and Loadout
About You
- 5+ years - Previous processing plant operating experience relevant to MMG Rosebery.
- Frontline Management Training
- Hold Forklift, Working at heights, EWP, Confined space (desirable).
- Previous processing plant operating experience relevant to MMG Rosebery
- Intermediate computer literacy. Cert iv in Training and Assessing will be highly regarded.
- An unwavering commitment to safe work practices with demonstrate safe behaviour at all times and comply with the site’s standards and procedures.
- A willingness to work collaboratively as a team and support the Company Values
- Strong Communication Skills
- Previous underground mining experience is essential with extensive knowledge off underground mining equipment and techniques.
- Experience using underground heavy machinery
- A manual C Class driver’s license
- First aid certificate – Desirable
- Ability to pass a Police Clearance, Pre employment Medical and DAS.
