Dugald River mine is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for our clients around the world since 2017. 

In April 2023, our commitment to a sustainable future saw the beginning of the Dugald River Solar Farm operations, supplying a third of the mine’s power, and reducing emissions by 33%; this is just the start of our renewable energy transition. 

Manager – Mine Support and Development

The Manager – Mine Development & Support is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for all mine development activities delivered by a major contract partner. The role ensures mining works are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with contractual, regulatory, and company requirements. This position is pivotal in maintaining strong contractor relationships, optimising performance, ensuring contractual compliance, and supporting the delivery of mine development plans that enable sustainable production outcomes.

This position also provides statutory coverage for the Mine Manager during periods of leave.

This role is available on a variation rosters including 4/3 (Tuesday to Friday) or  8/6 - 3/4. The role is offered to those looking to drive in, drive out (DIDO) from the local Cloncurry or Mount Isa districts or FIFO from Townsville or Brisbane.

Qualifications, competencies & knowledge highly desired:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
  • QLD First Class Underground Mine Manager’s Ticket and current practising certificate
  • 8–12+ years’ experience in the mining industry
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing mining contractors
  • Proven experience in contract administration, commercial management, or performance governance within a mining
  • Strong safety leadership skills, including the ability to lead and influence safe behaviours across contractor workgroups.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring all contract partner activities comply with statutory, site, and company safety standards.
  • Oversee risk management processes relating to mine development activities, including hazard identification, critical control verifications, incident response, and corrective actions.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of the contract, including scope interpretation, compliance monitoring, reporting, and claims management.
  • Ensure all contract variations, extensions, and commercial decisions follow company governance and procurement processes.
  • Monitor contractor expenditure against approved budgets and highlight variances or risks promptly.
  • Prepare contract performance summaries, KPIs, forecasts, and recommendations for senior management.
  • Provide input into mine development sequencing, schedules, and operational readiness plans.
  • Coordinate contractor activities with internal departments (Geology, Engineering, Processing, HSE, Maintenance) to support efficient site operations.
  • Ensure resources, equipment, and work areas are ready and available to support contractor execution.
  • Identify bottlenecks, operational risks, and opportunities to enhance productivity and development rates

Remuneration for this role includes a competitive salary package, annual bonus and generous local allowances for employees living in the local community of Cloncurry and Mt Isa.
