Dugald River mine is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since 2017.
The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April 2023 the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine’s power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition.
Dugald River employs around 750 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis.
Cable Bolter
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for experienced and ambitious Cable Bolter to join our team at Dugald River Mine.
Reporting to the Mining Supervisor, you will be responsible for the efficient installation of cable bolt ground support utilising our industry-leading cable bolting machine.
This role will be based on an 8/7, 7/6 (days and nights) roster, drive in drive out (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mount Isa or fly in fly out (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane.
Qualifications, Competencies & knowledge:
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a safety focus, be a strong problem solver and have extensive underground experience.
- Competency of Working at Heights (desirable).
- Previous experience of operating Sandvik cable bolt machine (desirable).
- Proficiency in supporting roles including UG Haul Truck operation, Production Charge-up, LHD operations and service crew tasks.
- A current first aid certificate and a valid driver’s licence are essential.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out cable bolt hole drilling, cable installing and grouting whilst adhering to site safety procedures and according to drilling plans.
- Liaising with shift supervisors and key stakeholders to ensure the correct execution of drilling designs.
- Keep accurate records of activities in accordance with established standards including the radio communication updates with Mine Control.
- Provide guidance, training, support to trainee operators.
