MMG Rosebery Mine is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in the west coast of Tasmania, Australia. It has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.
It supports approximately 500 workers and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.
Underground Operator – Minegem Operator (Remote Loader)
We are currently recruiting a Remote Loader Operator for our Underground Operation at Rosebery. The role reports to the applicable Shift Supervisor and the accountabilities will include specific tasks related to your area of operation.
- Management of the underground trucking fleet to ensure that they are fully utilised
- Ensuring truck loads are maximised
- Roadwork maintenance and housekeeping
- Correctly identify and manage ore and waste
- Strict compliance with tele-remote procedures
- Ensuring tram and loading packages are maintained
- Monitoring, reporting, and conducting thorough equipment prestart and shutdown inspections
This role is offered on 7 Days on 7 Days off Day Shift on a DIDO basis.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this role you will have minimum of 3 Years’ experience in underground mining, with a strong emphasis in a mechanised underground mining operation techniques and experience on the equipment and tasks listed above. You will be able to demonstrate problem solving skills in a team environment.
As a team member you will have the ability to communicate clearly and conduct detailed handovers with supervisors, cross shift and other relevant departments. You will also have a basic understanding of mining targets & priority projects to ensure targets are met. You will be expected to work both alone and in a team environment with Safety and the wellbeing of others your number one priority.
About You:
- Experience with the MineGem Tele-Remote system will be looked upon favourably.
- Candidates should have experience working with production and development crews or operating in similar environments.
- Being safety-conscious and having a strong understanding of risk controls when operating remotely is essential.
- Complete and carry out comprehensive and detailed end-of-shift communications
- Possess extensive knowledge of safe work practices and techniques applied in underground mining..
- A willingness to partake in Pre-Employment Medical and D&A Screen and Background checks.
- Extensive knowledge off underground mining equipment and techniques.
- A manual C Class driver’s license.
- First aid certificate – desirable.
