Dugald River mine is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since 2017.
The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April 2023 the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine’s power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition.
Dugald River employs around 750 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis. The village provides all the amenities including a gym, with a women’s only area, a tennis court, swimming pool, walking track and entertainment area.
Operator Mining - Bogger
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and ambitious Bogger Operator to join our team at Dugald River Mine.
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor-Production, the main function is to carry out safe and efficient production stope bogging (both manual and remote), truck loading and backfilling activities.
This role will be based on an 8/7, 7/6 (days and nights) roster, drive in drive out (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mount Isa or fly in fly out (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane. Relocation support will be available for successful candidates who reside outside of the local region who wish to relocate to the Cloncurry or Mount Isa districts.
Qualifications, Competencies & knowledge highly desired;
- Proven experience in operating loaders within the underground mining environment
- The ability to multi-skill in underground operations
- General understanding of Underground Mining Environment and long hole stope production
- Previous bogging experience including tele-remotes (>2 years) in an underground hard rock mining environment (desirable)
- A broad range of experience working with heavy machinery is desirable
- Compliance with all HS&E policies and procedures including reporting, and best practice for the areas of stope bogging and backfilling
Some of your key responsibilities will include;
- Follow and interpret mine plan instructions, backfill designs and remote bogging plans to work effectively to achieve the safe operational targets.
- Keep trucks operating at full efficiency and ensure all ore, low grade, and waste are kept segregated from each other.
- Undertake manual and tele-remote bogging of production stopes to stockpiles.
- Backfill empty stopes by loose rock filling or cement rock filling.
- Conduct other mining tasks as directed by your supervisor.
- Keep accurate records of activities by established standards, including radio communication updates with Mine Control.
- Monitor machinery condition, addressing hazards requiring attention and reporting concerns promptly.
- Ensure the machinery used is cleaned and presented for service as required.
- Provide guidance, training and support to trainee loader operators.
