We are MMG and we mine for progress
MMG Rosebery
Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia. The mine is a deep, sub-level open stoping operation with complex mining conditions.
The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.
It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.
The mine has a strong future, with extensive exploration activities which have continued to grow the resource and require mine planning beyond 10 years of continued operation.
MMG Rosebery has an office in Burnie (Tasmania), giving employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.
Production Engineers
We currently have two exciting opportunities for Production Engineers to be based at our Rosebery, Underground Operation in Tasmania
These roles provide a critical link between the technical and operational teams, ensuring safe and efficient execution of drilling, blasting, development, and backfilling activities.
By focusing on process improvements, the role of Operations Engineer aims to maximize ore recovery, minimize drilling, and optimize waste management.
These roles require significant time spent underground, actively inspecting work areas and practices, identifying and resolving issues, and collaborating with shift bosses to adjust plans and align operations with technical objectives.
Responsibilities include (however not limited):
- Collaborate with Production Engineers, Operations Superintendents, and Shift Supervisors to ensure shift plans align with operational targets.
- Provide input into weekly schedules, prioritizing practicality, accuracy, and alignment with broader mine planning objectives.
- Act as a key link between technical and operational teams, ensuring the long-term mine plan supports short-term execution.
- Facilitate smooth shift handovers by delivering clear, accurate, and actionable information.
- Develop drill designs using Deswik UGDB, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain continuous drilling operations by ensuring plans are completed on time and work sites are prepared.
- Optimise the supply of blasted material to meet haulage targets through:
- Timely boretrak surveys and interpretations.
- Preparation of charge plans for firing crews.
- Coordination and execution of firing plans.
- Blast design improvements to enhance drill rig efficiency, minimize remote loading, and optimise stockpile management.
- Ensure explosives stock levels comply with statutory limits and operational needs.
- Conduct QA/QC assessments across underground operations, including production drilling, charging, cabolting, jumbo development, backfilling, hauling, and services.
- Perform weekly inspections of drilling, development, rehabilitation, and backfill sites, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Validate and correct PitRAM data daily to maintain accurate operational metrics.
- Prepare and analyse daily reports on planned, developed, drilled, and fired stocks, including tonnage and drill meters.
- Contribute to weekly and monthly variance reports, identifying trends and opportunities for process improvements.
- Monitor short-term equipment performance, promptly addressing issues to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure adherence to schedules and compliance with planned activities.
- Adjust plans in response to real-time operational challenges, clearly communicating changes to all stakeholders.
- Undertake additional tasks as required to support continuous improvement and operational excellence.
