MMG Dugald River
Dugald River mine is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since 2017.
The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April 2023 the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine’s power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition.
Dugald River employs around 800 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis. MMG Graduate/Early Career Program
We invite applications from students who have graduated in the past two years in the discipline of Electrical Engineering.
Your growth is integral to the program with a structured two year on the job program supporting your learning through on-the-job development. The program focuses primarily on increasing self-awareness, learning from others, developing critical competencies for ongoing success and learning what you enjoy within your role.
Highlights of the program include:
- Ongoing activities to share each other’s knowledge, experiences, ideas and feedback.
- Contribution to projects and exposure to our Senior Leadership team.
- Specific skills development trainings, on various technologies as well as soft skills.
- Career mentoring providing guidance in preparing for your professional life.
The Program will provide you with an outstanding opportunity to produce results, quickly gain credibility and develop a strong network within the organisation as well as the wider Mining industry over two years.
Day to day, you will report into the Senior Electrical Engineer and gain exposure with the following:
- Effectively work with in a dynamic multidisciplinary team of engineers and technical experts.
- Maintain familiarisation with Australian Standards, Metalliferous Mining Act and Regulation and Site Standards.
- Provide technical support to site projects, maintenance and operational personnel.
- Review, maintain and amend maintenance strategies for surface and underground infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate electrical drawings and data across site. This involves processing and maintaining drawing corrections.
- Perform or participate in determining root cause(s) for equipment failures. Create and execute improvements to prevent re-occurrences.
- Become familiar with tools used on site for preventative maintenance. E.g. Vibration Analysis and Thermography.
- Improve plant reliability by eliminating defects, performing upgrades, trending and reviewing data.
- Low voltage power system modelling.
- Exposure to plant control systems, high and low voltage equipment and protection systems including programmable logic controllers, circuit breakers, programmable equipment, switchboards, motors, and instrumentation.
Full time working rights within Australia is essential.
