Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia. The mine is a deep, sub-level open stoping operation with complex mining conditions.
The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.
It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.
The mine has a strong future, with extensive exploration activities which have continued to grow the resource and require mine planning beyond 10 years of continued operation.
Technician – Processing Support
Reporting to the Coordinator – Processing this role is to provide operationally focused project and improvement support to the Processing Leadership Team, enabling the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of improvement initiatives and minor projects across the processing area.
It will support the identification, planning, coordination, and execution of initiatives that enhance operational performance, reliability, safety, and cost effectiveness.
Offered on a 5:2 / 4:3 roster this position plays a key role in driving continuous improvement, supporting change implementation, and contributing to sustainable operational outcomes.
Responsibilities Include (however not limited to):
- Actively manage and progress minor projects, operational improvement work, and metallurgical initiatives in collaboration with the Processing Superintendent, and where required, the Metallurgy Superintendent and TSF Coordinator.
- Work directly with maintenance and stores teams, contractors, and consultants to plan, execute, and close out project work safely, on schedule, and within scope.
- Support the practical execution of minor projects in alignment with Capital Projects standards and requirements, where applicable.
- Provide hands-on support during Capital Project Execution, including testing, troubleshooting, and operational readiness activities.
- Prepare and maintain project-related documentation in collaboration with the Training Advisor and assist with the delivery and rollout of training materials.
- Update controlled operational documents as required to reflect new equipment, installations, and process changes, using current operational knowledge.
- Actively maintain and manage a register and prioritisation system for improvement ideas, including follow-up and implementation tracking.
- Abide by Workplace Management Procedures to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, visions and values, and MMG Code of Conduct.
About You
- 5 + years experience in a similar role with experience in Processing Operations – Crushing, Grinding, Flotation, Filtration, Water Management.
- Strong knowledge of fixed plant operations with practical planning and coordination skills for shutdowns and minor projects.
- Ability to manage multiple work fronts and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to engage, influence, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Hands-on problem-solving and troubleshooting capability.
- Clear verbal and effective document writing skills, including procedures, work instructions, and project documentation.
- Strong organisational skills, including document and register management.
- Attention to detail with a focus on quality and operational compliance
- Project Management experience with the ability to deal with conflicting priorities
- Strong inter-personal skills in stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
- A willingness to work collaboratively as a team and support the Company Values
- Commitment to safety and operational excellence
- A manual C Class driver’s license
- First aid certificate – Desirable
- Ability to pass a Police Clearance, Pre employment Medical and DAS.
