Operator Mining - Pumping
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor - Production, the Mine Pumping Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the underground dewatering system to support mining activities. This role involves inspecting sumps, drain holes, and pumps to ensure they are functioning correctly, as well as coordinating sump bogging, pump replacements, and general maintenance activities.
This role will be based on an 8/7, 7/6 (days and nights) roster, drive in drive out (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mount Isa or fly in fly out (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane.
Competencies, qualifications, and skills:
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a safety focus, be a strong problem solver and ability to troubleshoot mining equipment operational issues -
- General understanding of an underground mining environment and long hole stope production.
- Strong understanding of underground dewatering systems, pumps and basic maintenance methods.
- Proven experience and ability to multi-skill within the underground mining environment.
- A current first aid certificate, a valid manual driver’s licence, and competency of working at heights are essential.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Oversee and maintain underground pumps, sumps, and drain holes to prevent flooding and ensure effective water control.
- Conduct regular inspections, address operational issues, and coordinate pump servicing and replacements.
- Collaborate with production, development, and maintenance teams to manage sump bogging and dewatering operations.
- Report mechanical issues, ensure safety standards are followed, and assist with infrastructure maintenance.
- Operate equipment, maintain accurate records, and participate in training and competency assessments.
