MMG Rosebery
Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia. The mine is a deep, sub-level open stoping operation with complex mining conditions.
The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.
It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.
The mine has a strong future, with extensive exploration activities which have continued to grow the resource and require mine planning beyond 10 years of continued operation.
MMG Rosebery has an office in Burnie (Tasmania), giving employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.
Lead - Training Advisor
Reporting to The Training Coordinator, the key focus of this role is to support the design, development, and delivery of training programs to build skills and competencies of Mine Operations employees, Mine Maintenance and Mining Technical service teams to safely and effectively perform tasks associated with their roles.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in an end to end training role that identifies training needs, sources best-practice training resources to match those needs, deliver the training, assess competency and record data in the Learning Management System.
This role is offered on an 4/3 or 8/6 – 4/3 residential roster in Rosebery or drive in drive out (DIDO).
Responsibilities include (however not limited to)
- Working with underground training team and mine supervisors to set training priorities for the shift and execute this plan.
- Providing training, assessment, and verification of competency (VOC) services to Mining operations personnel (employees and contractors), including Operations, Maintenance and other areas as required.
- Maintaining an up-to-date Training Needs Analysis and skills matrix for personnel associated with underground operations including maintenance and technical support staff.
- Design, maintain and deliver inductions and onboarding programs to support Mining operations, as well as assisting in the facilitation of general surface inductions and onboarding on a rostered basis.
- Facilitating the collection and storage of accurate training and assessment records within the approved MMG Learning Management Systems.
- Develop and maintain Training material approved procedures and work instructions relating to Mining operations and Maintenance as required.
- Assist with the development and/or revision of training, assessment, VOC and onboarding packages and resources relating to Mining operations and Maintenance to ensure regular training schedules.
- Facilitating continuous improvement by recognising and reporting gaps and deficiencies in the training systems or tools and assist with remedial actions.
- Work closely with contracting partners to ensure all personnel have the required training.
- Lead by example and demonstrate strict adherence to procedures (SOP) and work instructions.
- Adherence at all times to the MMG Code of Conduct. Comply with MMG’s values of Safety, Integrity, Action, and Results which form the basis of, and underpin all MMG’s business relationships
Qualifications, skills & competencies
- Cert IV Training & Assessing TAE 40116 or Higher.
- Understanding of the current national and state training and qualification standards, national and state mining acts and regulations.
- Knowledge of Training & Assessment methods & techniques to AQTF standard.
- Proven competency in the operation of various Underground Machinery such as Integrated Tool Carriers, UG Dump Trucks, LHD units and installation of services, Development and Production Drill Rigs, Mechanised Cable Bolting units, and MMU units
- Experience in the preparation and facilitation of units of competency being assessed or delivered in accordance with the national industry training package assessment guidelines
- Demonstrate a high level of facilitation/presentation skills as well as flexibility in coaching and training techniques.
- Effective relationship-building and collaborative skills.
- Australian manual drivers’ licence.
- Proficient with Learning Managing Systems, MS Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
