MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include
- Providing leadership and oversight to security personnel and contracted security service providers.
- Developing and implementing comprehensive security plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the specific needs and risks of the mining operation.
- Conducting security risk assessments and recommending appropriate mitigation measures.
- Managing the deployment, training, and effectiveness of security personnel.
- Establishing and maintaining effective access control systems to regulate entry and exit points, including identification badges, visitor management protocols, and perimeter security measures.
- Overseeing access control, perimeter security, and surveillance systems (CCTV and alarms).
- Supporting emergency preparedness and response, including liaison with law enforcement and emergency services.
- Coordinating and overseeing investigations into security incidents, breaches, or other security-related matters.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable security-related legal and regulatory requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Law, or a related field
- Relevant professional security certifications will be a strong advantage
- A Master’s degree will be an added advantage
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in security management, preferably within mining or a high-risk industrial environment
