MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:
- Managing the end-to-end process of visas, work and residence permit applications, renewals, and cancellations for expatriate employees and their dependents.
- Liaising with government departments such as the Ministry of Labour, Department of Immigration, Ministry of Minerals and Energy, ERB, BICA and other relevant bodies to facilitate clearance for applicants.
- Advising expatriates and management on immigration timelines, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Assisting in developing internal guidelines and SOPs for permit handling and compliance.
- Coordinating medicals, police clearance, translations, and other supporting documents for permit processing.
- Responding to audits, inspections, and queries from regulatory bodies regarding immigration status and workforce composition.
- Generating monthly reports on permit statuses, expiries, application progress, and potential risks.
- Supporting onboarding of expatriates by assisting with arrival logistics, permit-related briefings, and settlement procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field
- Certification in Labour Law or Immigration Compliance (advantageous)
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in HR administration or immigration-related roles
- Experience handling work and residence permits in Botswana is essential
- Exposure to the mining industry or heavy industrial operations is highly preferred
