MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:
- Obtaining Work Orders from E&I Coordinator and carrying out switching operations to release or put equipment into services in accordance with MMG standards, policies and procedures in area of responsibility to ensure safety and minimal disruption to supplies.
- Undertaking pre-maintenance risk assessment in conjunction with other maintenance team members to identify potential SHE risks factors around the work area/equipment and selecting appropriate work procedure and equipment for the job at hand.
- Performing pre-commissioning inspections for new installations and carrying out equipment testing, installations, repair works, etc. as per schedules for maintenance and advises E&I Coordinator.
- Initiating the planning and maintenance of defective equipment in the event of detrimental non-compliance to standards, and reports to E&I Coordinator.
- Overseeing work of contractors during projects, ensuring compliance with MMG’s rules and procedures for undertaking specific work and providing technical advice and guidance as required.
- Monitoring the network for abnormal conditions and carrying out corrective measures such as, upgrades to ensure continuity and reliability of power supply and equipment protection.
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment and systems for emergency repairs, performing preventive Maintenance inspections, assisting specialists in setting up and testing new products/processes and installing complex systems with guidance, maintaining expenditure compliance to budget.
- Compiling and documenting recurrent faults, defects and repairs to ensure systematic maintenance of the network.
- Carrying out on-the-job training and coaching in maintenance procedures and fault diagnosis to increase the flexibility and capability of the team.
- Maintaining and contributing to the development and implementing feasibility testing of proposed electrical engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design.
- Carrying out a range of activities under the guidance of the Electrical Engineer and E&I Coordinator to support the drafting of electrical engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
- Diploma in Electrical and Electronics / Protection / or any equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
- Minimum of five years hands on experience with relevant exposure to testing and commissioning of equipment
- Basic knowledge of electrical protection systems
- Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, or chemical principles (e.g. control circuits, relays, radiation theory)
- Experience in a mining environment will be an added advantage.
- Registration with a Professional Regulatory Body preferred.
