BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION
The Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for providing geotechnical engineering expertise and support for underground and surface mining operations and projects. The role will be responsible for ground stability assessments, the design of ground support systems, monitoring and data analysis. It will also ensure safe, efficient and sustainable mine development in compliance with MMG-Khoemacau’s safety and environmental standards conservation outcomes through scientifically rigorous offset design, habitat restoration, and stakeholder collaboration.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Your key accountabilities include
- Promoting and maintaining a safety-first culture among all team members, ensuring that all geotechnical engineering activities comply with both company safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Performing stability analyses, numerical modelling, and core logging to assess ground conditions.
- Designing and specifying ground support systems (bolting, shotcrete, mesh) for tunnels, stopes and access ways.
- Installing, calibrating and maintaining geotechnical monitoring instruments (inclinometers, extensometers, micro seismic sensors).
- Collecting, validating and analysing monitoring data and providing regular reports on ground behaviour.
- Liaising with mine planning, engineering and production teams to integrate geotechnical requirements into mine development schedules.
- Collaborating closely with geotechnical, mechanical, and civil engineers to ensuring that ground support designs integrate seamlessly with other aspects of mining operations.
- Developing and sustaining relationships with external engineering consultants, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to support geotechnical activities.
- Preparing comprehensive geotechnical reports, technical memos and presentations for management and regulatory bodies.
- Identifying opportunities to enhance geotechnical processes, methodologies and tools.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geological, Geotechnical or Mining Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering within underground mining environments
- Must hold a valid professional engineering license
- Additional certifications in project management or safety management will be an added advantage
- Deep understanding of geotechnical engineering principles, methodologies and rock mechanics relevant to mining operations
- Knowledge of local and international mining regulations, safety standards and environmental legislation applicable to geotechnical activities

The Document Controller will be responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of project documentation for expansion projects, including receipt, coding, distribution, storage, archiving, and handover. The IT/OT Coordinator will be responsible for participating in the network planning and designing of the second phase of the MMG-Khoemacau Mine Project. The role will be responsible for assisting in building the network infrastructure for smart mines, and taking part in project implementation, acceptance and operation preparation. It will also assist in formulating network security plans to ensure the security of IT/OT networks and engaging in the planning and construction of the mine wireless communication system.
SENIOR EXPLORATION GEOLOGIST

The Senior Exploration Geologist will be responsible for contributing across all phases of exploration from greenfield early stage through to brownfield exploration targets, up to resource definition ensuring that KCM resource growth and development objectives are achieved throughout the project lifecycles.
