GROUNDS LEAD

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION: 

The Grounds Lead will be responsible for leading and supervising all grounds maintenance activities across Khoemacau sites by ensuring that gardens, landscapes, roadsides, open areas, recreational facilities, and external camp environments are maintained to a safe, clean, and aesthetically acceptable standard while ensuring efficient utilization of manpower, equipment, and resources.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your key accountabilities include:

• Supervising all grounds maintenance personnel/Contractor across Khoemacau sites.
• Planning and coordinating daily, weekly, and monthly grounds maintenance activities.
• Ensuring grass cutting, trimming, pruning, hedge maintenance, and weed control are completed as scheduled.
• Supervising planting, watering, fertilising, and maintenance of lawns, trees, shrubs, and gardens.
• Ensuring litter collection and cleaning of all external areas, walkways, parking areas, and public spaces.
• Monitoring irrigation systems and ensuring efficient water utilisation.
• Coordinating pest and vegetation control activities where applicable.
• Conducting routine inspections and identifying areas requiring maintenance or improvement.
• Ensuring all grounds maintenance equipment and tools are properly maintained and accounted for.
• Allocating manpower effectively to meet operational priorities.
• Ensuring contractors comply with contractual scope, KPIs, and safety requirements where outsourced services are utilised.
• Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules and progress reports.
• Maintaining records of completed work, equipment utilisation, and resource requirements.
• Recommending landscape improvement initiatives that enhance the appearance of company facilities.
• Ensuring all work areas comply with company housekeeping and environmental standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE: 

• BGCSE certificate
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture.
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Mining, industrial, or large accommodation camp experience will be an added advantage.
